So earlier today, there was this hyper little dog at a dog show. He was unleashed but totally focused on his owner, and his owner was just talking and talking to interested listeners and telling them about his dog. It’s not unusual, people do that all the time in dog shows.
Anyway, this dog looked so much like my first dog, and I asked the guy if I could pet it. That’s when he looked at me like I was an idiot, and asking me if I was the dog’s owner, and what business did I have petting his dog?
I know some people don’t like having their dogs being petted by strangers, and that’s exactly why it’s polite to ask first. But this guy, he just kept repeating (‘Are you its owner? Why would you touch it? It’s a dog, you can’t just touch it.’), as if my simple question was just so unheard of. And I don’t usually care if there’s an unleashed dog, but then I asked, “Why, does it bite? Where’s the leash then?” which was just bad logic (connecting the fact that he didn’t want his dog to be touched to it being unfriendly). And of course he said something pretentious again after that, but at that point I just walked away.
Okay, guys, if you have a dog, a lot of people will want to pet it. And a lot of people will ask. If you don’t want them to pet your dog, a simple ‘no’ to a simple question will suffice. We’re not stupid and we will understand if you don’t want strangers going near your dog. Just don’t be a douche. I have a dog and he loves being pet by strangers and it doesn’t bother me. Don’t assume your pretentious shit is the ‘default’ for all dog owners as if it should be common sense for all those strangers out there who just want to go near a dog.
Bento 1 - 10.02.2013
A cup of rice topped with miso furikake, nori-filled omelets, and some stir-fried vegetables.
Bento 3 - 10.06.2013
Salad with olives, onions, shitake, shitake mushrooms and vinaigrette dressing. Also included: a hard-boiled egg and some apple slices. Did a quick calorie count and it only amounted to around 250 calories… awesome.
Bento 2 - 10.03.2013
A cup of rice topped with furikake, nori-filled omelets, tomatos, and squid rings.
Not too happy with how it looks… presentation wasn’t that appealing to me, but it was filling!
